Feb/March/April

Wow, things have gotten incredibly busy for us in the past few months, so much so, our digital camera is somewhere on tour in one of our vehicles, so no new pictures yet...

The studio activities keep us hopping every weekend, every night and anytime inbetween. We've had rounds of flus/sicknesses attacking not just the students but us as well. We both were sick...a lot and for what seemed like months and gee happened to hit hard on every weekend, that part sucked. We had a big red belt testing April 4. We had a few new shining stiff red belts earned out of it and those students pretesting did great!

I had laser eye surgery April 8th in Medford. That was pretty amazing and I'm very glad I did it, even though I'm having some dry eye healing issues. I can see better than I ever could with contacts or glasses! It is awesome to be able to see "normally". The ground is closer (I am shorter than I thought), so the body/eye/mind coordination had to adjust. Yea yea laugh it up. I do want to do some serious hikes in the Sky Lakes Wilderness area this summer, since I won't have to mess with contacts/glasses, that would be amazing.

Construction is going along just fine, extremely busy. The restaurant is almost 80% done, probably about 1.5 months to go and that will be over. The business owner's insurance claim/finances with the insurance company still aren't settled/agreed upon yet, so that could still be a big hitch. I've stopped getting disturbed by that, and I've resigned to knowing that karmically the insurance adjuster will someday go to hell in every religion that exists and those that don't yet,, he will be living in hell the rest of this life, as he appears to either be a truly wretched twisted human being or else has the severe starts of dementia/alzheimers. If he is truly mentally ill, I hope he gets fired soon so as not to cause so much turmoil with clients already going through turmoil. Well it is a story for if we're having a lot of beers with any of you in the future, this episode has just become such a long tangled story of dumbass insurance mess, and Vince and I both have learned a lot. Anyways the project itself is speeding along. It will be wonderful when it is done and everybody in town can back off of us with that bloody question "when is our restaurant going to open again". All the other jobs and adjusters we are working with have been great. I've been getting the hang of payroll, and underwent the joys of quarterlies this month, now keeping organized has been the challenge.

Massage is doing fine as usual, my clients rock! Our Back to Health chiro office is moving downtown Kfalls either in May or June, so that has some benefits...it will be 4 blocks from the studio and about 50% of my clientele already work downtown are pretty stoked about being able to walk across the street. There is also a Dutch Bros coffee shop across the road so that will be nice for getting my iced soy chai drinky, a small bonus.

Oh and finally news most of you will find absolutely hysterical. Our student and friend Dwane who moved to Spokane WA is getting married July 3rd in a red/white/blue wedding. Dwane has his own studio/gym there called TKO Gym and he and his fiancee Heather run the thing (in the evenings). Dwane has done some incredible work with his students up there and balances a kickboxing program, a UFC style mixed martial arts fighting program, and a more "traditional" martial art program based on Tang Soo Do for kids and adults. (Dwane has x-trained in a lot of arts). Well for the wedding they called us a few weeks ago, and asked if Vince would marry them. Of course Vince would be honored to do that, but we had to make sure it would be legal. So while on the phone with them, I popped onto the internet site where Dwane says "Vince can get licensed to marry in WA...yea see if it can be done and how much work it will take". I just giggled (a lot, and kept going with the website) and within about 5 minutes I had Vince ordained a minister in the Universal Life Church. Vince is now the Reverend Vincent Finnianous. We all had a lot of chuckling about that, and Vince is sure this is Dwane's version of revenge for pushing Dwane to get his 2nd Dan black belt test done. Apparently, I am also going to have to pour my carcass into a red/white bridesmaid dress, but we don't need to talk about that...and yea my cardio program has already kick-started since my leg is mostly healed. Like Vince said, we've used the studio as a funeral home, we hold birthday parties there, so we might as well start offering weddings also. Keep laughing! More updates to come!

Tell Reverend Vince that is great! About twenty five years ago I did the same thing with ULC and performed a marriage for some good friends of mine.

This past summer my wife's niece, who has sat in trees in Washington/Oregon (her parents are old hippies), got married on the shores of Lake Superior with a ULC minister. He was dressed in buckskin, people had flowers in their hair and I swore we were back in the 60's.

So much fun! Hope the wedding goes great for all involved.

Hands palm to palm.
